Hon. Catherine Kenga, elected Speaker of the Kilifi County Assembly on July 21, 2025, with a commanding 41 of 47 votes, is the first woman to hold this prestigious role across Kenya’s six coastal counties since devolution in 2013. Born in Kilifi on January 19, 1979, this visionary leader holds a Master’s in International Studies and a Bachelor’s in Law from the University of Nairobi, equipping her with incisive legal acumen and a global outlook that shape her dynamic leadership.

Catherine’s career exemplifies her relentless go-getter spirit. As County Executive Committee Member for Roads, Transport, and Public Works (2022–2025), she spearheaded infrastructure reforms, enhancing connectivity that catalyzed economic growth in tourism, agribusiness, and manufacturing. As Acting County Secretary (April–July 2025), she streamlined county operations, aligning policies with Kilifi’s development vision to deliver tangible results for its people.
